10 Stone 8 Pounds

I'm a bit disappointed with myself this week. I thought I could easily shift a few pounds but looking back I can see why I haven't.

On Monday we went to the Indian Buffet night at Zeenat, I didn't pig out though and to be fair we did walk the 2.5miles to the restaurant.

On Wednesday evening we hastily decided a further treat was in order and we went into town. We visited Wokmania taking advantage of a 2 for £10 buffet voucher. We've been before and not been too impressed but at that price it cant be bad? Let me tell you it can! The food wasn't being replenished often, with dried remains being stirred over and over to give new life. The service also didn't impress, I ordered a bottle of house Rose, a nice little earner for them at a tenner for probably a £2.50 bottle of wine. It arrived after I had finished eating and Paul was just eating his final plate. It was sent back without argument and we left shortly afterwards.

On Saturday I spent a good 4-5 hours in the garden applying Ronseal Perfect Finish Decking Oil. Have you seen the TV advert where they apply it effortlessly and it coats completely as they glide along with the applicator pad? Yeah, right, pull the other one, its bloody hard work getting it into all the grooves! Anyhow, that certainly worked up an appetite for my evening meal, Smoked Haddock, potatoes and mushy peas.

The fish is coated in my own special recipe spicy flour mix then (very) shallow fried. Delicious!

On Sunday I was on Nana-in-law duties, taking Ivy out for breakfast at a cafe in a garden centre she like to visit. I succumbed to a sausage and mushroom cob that wasn't entirely fat free. It was a nice drive out in the country though so that's something isn't it?

this week is the week, I'm deffo gonna lose a few pounds. Only thing is, its Monday again and the Zeenat buffet menu looks like a very tempting selection this week. I'll let you know if we resist temptation :-)

10 Stone 8 Pounds

Tipping the scales this morning at 10 Stone 8 Pounds.

Tomorrow we go to Spain for 3 days of all-inclusive madness, wish me luck!

BMI Update June 09

When I started out on this journey my BMI was a whopping 26.9 and my target was to get down to somewhere around 22.8, so how am I doing?

How about that? Looks good on a graph dont you think :-)

10 Stone 13 Pounds

So I've finally broken the 11 Stone barrier and then this!

Look at that! I'm home alone for one night only and I revert to this sort of thing!

Chicken curry pie

750 calories of pure Sin. But so worth it!

In an effort to balance this, I also roasted Aubergine, Pepper and Onion and made a tasty, healthy soup to have for the next 2 days lunches :-)

11 Stone 0 Pounds

Lately, Its been a struggle to shift even a few pounds. What with eating out, birthday parties and barbeques in the recent sunny weather, I was putting on weight!

This week I've buckled down and made a great effort to reverse this, I even made Aubergine soup*!

Looks like its paying off, the scales this morning showed 11 Stones dead-on, so like, go me!

*Actually, whatever you are thinking it was actually pretty good.

Tuesday 5 May 2009

11 Stone 2 Pounds

The scales said 11 Stone 2 Pounds yesterday, though the Wii thought it was more like 11 Stone 1 Pounds :-)

I've been really good today, a broccoli soup for lunch, plenty of fruit and no snacks.

I really hope to get under the 11 stones mark this week. It will be the first time I've been in the 10 stone range for several years.

Wednesday 22 April 2009

11 Stone 4 Pounds

I was pleasantly surprised by the read-out on the scales this morning. I must confess to being very naughty over the last two days. It started on Monday evening when I suggested we had a well earned treat for our Evening meal. We first thought of the Indian buffet, but we'd done that last week so decided to go all out and have KFC!

Paul drove round and collected our usual, a Variety Bucket containing 4 pieces on the bone, 4 breast strips, 4 bags of fries and a small popcorn chicken. In the time it took him to return from the drive-thru, I had opened and heated a tin of baked beans to go on the side.

What's that I hear you gasp, “That’s too much food for two people?" Well, yes it is, I'll grant you that. In fact, it lasts us 2 meals, we ate our fill on Monday and then finished off the remainder on Tuesday evening :-)

Considering this, you'll see why I'm pleased not to have gained any weight, never mind hoping to have lost any!

You can see here that I've made amends tonight, here's my evening meal, Lime and Coriander Salmon on a bed of Potato cakes with a drizzle of tomato olive oil and a grinding od chilli and garlic.

Lets see what that does for my waistline :-)

11 Stone 4 Pounds

I'm in something of a connundrum!

According to the scales this morning I was 11 stone 3, then a few hours later the Wii-fit said 11 Stone 2 pounds. I checked myself on the scale again a few minutes ago and it said 11 Stone 4 Pounds, so I'm going with that.

The time of day seems to have a big effect on weight, maybe I need to have a big wee before I jump on the scales :-)

Tuesday 14 April 2009

A very small treat :-)

When I bought the multipack of Weightwatchers Hot Chilli Tortilla chips, I marvelled at the fact that each bag was only 1 "point" or 77 calories.

"How on earth could this be," I thought. Look at them, dont they look wonderful?

Look closer.

WWTortillaChips

Yes thats right, you've spotted it, thats how they keep the points and calories down.

They only put 10 in each bag!

11 Stone 5 Pounds

I've been pretty lazy about keeping up this here record of my weight loss attempts. Sorry abut that, I'd like to say it wont happen again, it probably will though, so lets just leave it at that :-)

So we got back from holiday without having ballooned out of control and I've been trying to be good since. As you can see, nothing much is moving, I'm now 11'5. I do feel thinner, like I've lost inches not weight, can that happen?

We got a Wii Fit in the week and have been having great fun with games and workouts on that. Maybe that will help get me moving, according to the trainer my ideal weight should be 10 Stone and a BMI of 22.

Check back soon(ish) for more updates :-)

Wednesday 18 March 2009

11 Stone 6 Pounds

Oh dear, that is not good! Had a heavy weekend and it shows, I also allowed a few treats (Doritos!) to creep in on Friday, Monday and Tuesday. It is just not fair, why is it so easy to put it back on again?

Plan of action today was NO snacks, a Cup-a-soup for lunch, followed by 1/2 hour brisk walk and no bread! I stuck to it as well, also eating plenty of fruit, so hopefully that will kickstart me back in the right direction. Dinner tonight is undecided but it will be light.

I'm having 5 days all-inclusive in Spain starting Sunday so I have to do something!

Saturday 14 March 2009

11 Stone 4 Pounds

Quick update, been working in the garden today, looks like bush trimming is an excellent aid to weight loss.

More gardening tomorrow :-)

Sunday 8 March 2009

11 Stone 6 Pounds

Yippee, it's been showing 11'6 on the scales for the last few days so it looks like I'm back on track and heading in the right direction again.

I'm feeling particularly happy since last week I went out for steak on Tuesday night and a Pub lunch on Friday. The key is moderation in everything I guess.

Just another Stone to go :-)

Monday 2 March 2009

11 Stone 8 Pounds

I got back from holiday and found I'd gone up to 11'8, not a great result but actually much better than I expected. I avoided posting until today hoping to pull it back to where I was before, no such luck.

This week I'll have to make more effort and start moving in the right direction again ;-)

Thursday 19 February 2009

11 Stone 7 Pounds

So here we are, another couple of pounds towards my goal :-)

Just 1 more pound and I've taken off a stone, how good is that? Well, it certainly feels good. I think I can tell the difference already, my waist has certainly lost a little, I've had to move to the next hole on my belt buckle :-) I could be wrong but I also feel like my throat area (cant bring myself to say wattle!) is feeling tauter.

I do however, see a (silver) cloud on the horizon. On Saturday we are going to Benidorm for a few days of R&R, returning on Wednesday. Dont get me wrong, I'm really looking forward to the holiday, its just what I need given all the recent worry about work. The cloud I'm referring to is of course, the All-Inclusive hotel we will be staying at! I just need to convince myself that making only one trip to the buffet per meal is perfectly ok :-)

I'm working on a holiday mantra, "just one plate of food, what a good boy you are, just one plate of food, what a good boy you are....."

*PS. I'm experimenting with posting this by email, hope it shows up ok :-)

Sunday 15 February 2009

11 Stone 9 Pounds

I was getting a little dis-heartened last week so on Thursday I really went for it, eating only a 65 calorie cuppa soup for lunch and cutting back on my evening meal. On Friday I did the cuppa soup again, in the evening we ordered in Indian food so I had to really restrain myself!

On Saturday morning I was tipping the scales at 10 stones 8, however this morning (Sunday) I was back at 10 stone 9, so thats the headline for today.

In summary, I'm still heading in the right direction and not nearly finished yet!

PS. I had a haircut today so that might be another pound lost :-)

Tuesday 10 February 2009

11 Stone 10 Pounds

Oh no, the scales say the same as last week :-(

Sunday 8 February 2009

11 Stone 10 Pounds

Yay! Go Me, another 2 pounds.

Havent got a lot planned for the weekend so maybe a few hours on our new Wii will help me burn off a few more calories :-)

I was thinking of detailing my daily food intake on here but that would probably be bordering on the obsessive. Wouldnt it?

Tuesday 3 February 2009

11 Stone 12 Pounds

Things are looking good, I lost a few more pounds despite a heavy weekend.

On Saturday we had dinner at the Chinese buffet, it was my only meal of the day so that was ok.

I also had a few beers but my plan is to eat less but carry on drinking anyway :-)

Saturday 24 January 2009

12 Stone 0 Pounds

Amazingly, I lost weight!

When we got back from holiday and I was expecting the worst. In fact thanks to a lot of walking and some self restraint, even at the Chinese buffet! I did lose a few pounds. I had hoped to just get away without gaining anything so this is a real bonus.

See you next time :-)

Wednesday 14 January 2009

12 Stone 2 Pounds

Doing well, been a couple of weeks and I'm down to 12 Stone 2 Pounds.

Tomorrow, I'm going on holiday for a week, this could be disaster for my waistline! Will have to try and do lots of walking around see the sights to burn off the holiday food and drink :-)

Fingers crossed.

BMI

So, the BMI thing, according to the NHS I'm currently squarely overweight with a BMI of 26.9.

My target of 10 Stone 6 Pounds will look like this.

You can check yours here.

Monday 5 January 2009

Welcome to Ten Stone Six.

We've just had Christmas and I'm dismayed to discover that I've hit an all time high of 12 Stones and 6 Pounds.

Join my (hopefully) succesful journey to my target weight of 10 Stones and 6 Pounds.

I'm only 5'7'' in height so that make my BMI something like a million, I'll work it out properly later.

I'm not doing anything fancy, just eating less and maybe exercising more.

Stay tuned for my regular updates :-)
